People do not like to have their sacred myths revealed as untrue
Looks like another leftist myth has been upended by the facts:
Was Matthew Shepard a martyr for gay rights? No, he wasn’t, according to a new book by gay investigative journalist Stephen Jimenez, sympathetically reviewed in the gay magazine The Advocate. The book contends that the Shepard killing was about crystal meth, and that Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson, the murderers, were themselves closeted gay men having sex on the down low.Shepard was a well-to-do student who voluntarily accompanied two meth addicts he met in a bar. Ignoring the evidence that Shepard's death was a drug (or "rough trade") deal gone wrong, the media made Shepard a martyr of the left. President Obama signed the "Matthew Shepard Act," an amendment to the 2010 National Defense Authorization Act (??!!), which made it a federal hate crime if the perp was motivated by the "perceived gender" of the victim. (No, I'm not making that up.) Of course, "hate crime" laws not only boost DC's power, but legitimize homosexuality. But do you think that law will be repealed even though the incident that sparked it has been proven to be a fabrication? Ha!
